Aboriginal Child and Youth Wellness Program
The goals of the ACYWP:
- Provide access for Aboriginal Children and Youth to culturally relevant mental wellness programs.
- Provide consultation and education services to Williams Lake, and community agencies.
- To raise awareness and increase knowledge about mental health and well being.
Counselling services are open to:
- Urban Aboriginal Children and Youth under the age of 19, and their families.
- All services are free and confidential.
The Aboriginal Child and Youth Wellness Program offers:
- One to one counselling.
- Group counselling.
- Individual, parental, and family support.
- Community education workshops to increase awareness around mental health issues.
Using a holistic approach, which matches individual’s needs and beliefs, the Aboriginal Child and Youth Wellness team will work with children, youth, and their families to promote wellness for those suffering from mental, social, emotional, and/or behavioural disorders including but not limited to:

Multiple Barriers.
- Life Threatening Behaviours and Depression.
- Trauma and Anxiety Disorder.
- Behaviour Disorders.
- Substance Abuse.
- Survivors of Abuse, Trauma, and/or Neglect.
- Intergenerational Trauma.
The Referral Process
If you think you need help, or you know a child or youth who needs help, there are two ways to refer to the Aboriginal Child and Youth Wellness program:
- Contact the Aboriginal Wellness Coordinator at 250-267-2377, to complete a referral form over the phone.
- Complete a referral form below or pick one up at the Doctors office, Schools, MCFD, Cariboo Friendship Society, and various other locations and fax it to 250-398-6115.
